Per UNESCO, "Open Educational Resources (OER) are learning, teaching and research materials in any format and medium that reside in the public domain or are under copyright that have been released under an open license, that permit no-cost access, re-use, re-purpose, adaptation and redistribution by others."

Further information is available on our OER Research Guide. This guide includes information on how to find OER, how to adapt, modify, reuse existing materials, and the licensing concerns that are associated with using open content.

Springfield College is in the early stages of creating a campus-wide OER program to support student success. The OER team's goals are to:

  • increase faculty awareness and use of OER in their courses; and
  • evaluate sustainable infrastructure to support the creation of new OER materials.

To find OER materials for your course, please reach out to your liaison librarian who will be happy to assist. For broader questions about the OER program, contact Joan Giovannini, Assistant Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship, at jgiovannini@springfieldcollege.edu.
